About Montessori

The Montessori philosophy, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 20th century, revolutionized early childhood education. Dr. Montessori's innovative approach emphasizes a child-centric, hands-on learning experience that respects individuality, encourages self-directed exploration, and promotes a lifelong love for learning. This groundbreaking philosophy has since become a global cornerstone in early education, inspiring countless educators and shaping the development of young minds for over a century.

As an accredited Montessori school, you can expect the following at BBCH:

Multi-Age Classrooms

Having children of different age groups together provides models for younger children to imitate and gives the older ones an opportunity to reinforce their knowledge by helping the younger ones.

Specialized Montessori Materials

Montessori materials are specially designed to be self-correcting and encourage total concentration—Children across the world continue to use Montessori’s materials in response to their inner drives to learn.

Well-prepared environments

Each Montessori classroom is a well-prepared environment designed to support the child’s need for learning and growth. It is a “child’s house” where there are many carefully designed materials to meet the child’s natural interests. The atmosphere is positive, supportive, and non-competitive.

An Integrated Approach

With a focus on the whole child, students all have the chance to explore other interests and stretch their creative self-expression through art, music, drama, outdoor play, food preparation, and more.

A Lifelong Approach to Learning

Montessori classrooms provide children with a solid foundation on which to build later learning experiences. Children who are encouraged to be creative, independent, and responsible during early childhood grow into competent, happy adults.
