Our Story

At Broad Branch Children’s House, our rich history in providing a nurturing and stimulating environment spans across our Toddler and Primary Montessori programs. Tailored to ages 24-36 months and 3-6 years respectively, our educational approach empowers students to explore, question, experiment, and develop ideas independently.

Nestled in a residential neighborhood just east of Connecticut Avenue near the Chevy Chase Circle, BBCH provides an intimate and engaging setting. Housed above the recently renovated Broad Branch Market and across from Lafayette Elementary School, our school exudes a sense of community and connection.

Inside, you'll find four light-filled classrooms surrounded by windows that create the enchanting sensation of being in a treehouse—a space where imagination and learning know no bounds.

In our classrooms, teachers play a pivotal role in guiding the learning process, offering direction and support as students navigate the Montessori curriculum. The mixed ages within each class foster a unique dynamic, allowing children to both learn from and mentor one another, creating a community built on mutual respect. This approach not only provides an outstanding academic foundation but also nurtures social skills during these formative years.

Step outside, and you'll discover our children's garden and a gated play space designed for general play and gross motor activities. Our garden is not just a feature; it's a living classroom where children actively participate in planting and maintaining, gaining hands-on experience with the vibrant world around them.

At BBCH our goal is to create an environment where curiosity blooms, independence thrives, and the love for learning becomes a lifelong journey!

Our Mission

The mission of Broad Branch Children's House is to cultivate an environment of resilience, independence, confidence, and joy.

BBCH's vision is to create authentic Montessori experiences where each child is treated as a unique individual developing at their own pace, inspired and supported by dedicated teachers and staff. In partnership with parents and the community, our environment will foster learning that will lead to a more peaceful world.
